You may need book because you love reading, or because you are learning a new language. There might be many places to buy book in Vietnamese, but what about the foreigner books ? Here are several places where to get your books.


It is the street to know in the heart of the city, between Intercontinental Asiana Saigon Hotel and Notre Dame Cathedral. This place offers history with a bit of modernity. Super quiet street as it is for pedestrian only, there is a lot of shadow, and bookstores alongside, on both side the street. There is a coffee shop where you can sit, read and admire the dynamism of the city. You will find very old books in Vietnamese, as well as in Japanese, Chinese and French, but also new books in different languages.


This is definitely the place to go if you want to get French books. They have books for kids and adults. You will find classic authors such as Marguerite Duras, Alexandre Dumas and Simone de Beauvoir. But there, you will also find some thrillers, cooking books, and books about Saigon and Vietnam, which are great to offer as a gift for example. They mainly have new books, but they also have second hand books, both for kids and adults. You can get a kilo of book for 230,000 VND. This is a great deal if you dont want to spend too much money learning French. The place is located on 88 Truong Dinh Street in district 1.

This place is literally the Ali Baba’s cave for English books. You enter into someone’s appartement and will find very wanted books in english. Either you can buy new or second hand books (from 200,000 to 500,000 VND) or you can sit and read but you will need to buy a drink, this is the rules which is fair enough. Books are about investment, finance, management, operation, biographies, art, history and many more topics.


You will find ma y Fahasa shops if you check on Google Maps. This is where you will find the largest choice of Vietnamese book. This is definitely where you should go if you are looking for technical books in English, such as books about intercultural management, human ressources, and so on. They also have books to learn language like Chinese and Japanese.
